Many of us know couples that ran into serious problems, went to counseling, and still got divorced. It can make you doubt the wisdom of taking the time (AND money, often lots of it) to go to a marriage counselor.
I can tell you, in 34 years of marriage (to a fellow TYPE A, military type, and with 4 kids) my wife & I have experienced a lot of good and bad times. My wife, Jane, and I availed ourselves of the services of a number of counselors over the years. For us, it worked, because of one, key factor: Divorce has never, EVER been an option in our relationship!
